LEVITRA can be taken without regard to food.11
Recommended Dosing11:
- The recommended starting dose of LEVITRA is 10-mg. Titrate up to 20-mg or down to 5-mg based on efficacy and side effects
- LEVITRA is available in 2.5-mg, 5-mg, 10-mg, and 20-mg tablets
- The maximum recommended dosing frequency is once daily
- Sexual stimulation is required to achieve a response
- LEVITRA should be taken approximately 60 minutes prior to sexual activity
Dosing in Special ED Populations11:
- A starting dose of 5-mg should be considered in patients ≥65 years of age
- A starting dose of 5-mg is recommended for patients on stable alpha-blocker therapy
- Caution is advised when PDE5 inhibitors, including LEVITRA, are used concomitantly with stable alpha-blocker therapy because of the potential for lowering blood pressure
- In patients with moderate hepatic impairment, a starting dose of 5-mg is recommended. The maximum dose in patients with moderate hepatic impairment should not exceed 10-mg
Concomitant Medications11
Consistent with the effects of PDE5 inhibition, administration of LEVITRA with nitrates and nitric oxide donors is contraindicated.
The dosage of LEVITRA may require adjustment in patients receiving certain CYP3A4 inhibitors (eg,, ketoconazole, itraconazole, ritonavir, indinavir, and erythromycin)

For ritonavir, a single dose of 2.5-mg LEVITRA should not be exceeded in a 24-hour period.
For indinavir, ketoconazole 400-mg daily, and itraconazole 400-mg daily, a single dose of 2.5-mg LEVITRA should not be exceeded in a 24-hour period. For ketoconazole 200-mg daily, itraconazole 200-mg daily, and erythromycin, a single dose of 5-mg LEVITRA should not be exceeded in a 24-hour period.
