ED is prevalent among your patients with diabetes. In a cross-sectional evaluation of 1460 with type 2 diabetes, 58% reported having frequent or occasional ED.5
For men over age 50, increasing duration of type 2 diabetes is associated with increased risk of ED relative to nondiabetic men.4 The risk of ED was approximately three times higher for middle-aged and older men with type 1 diabetes than for nondiabetics of similar age.4
Historically, diabetic men have not responded as well to ED treatments. A study shows that vardenafil HCl significantly improved erectile function in diabetic men, even those with severe ED, irrespective of glycemic control (HbA1c ≤12%).8
